"I'm being nice when I give it two stars because I like the concept of a game which progresses even while your computer is shut off. However the gameplay in Virtual Villagers IV is absolutely horrid as these people take forever to accomplish anything. It's mind-numbing to wait for them to finish even the simplest tasks so the gameplay involves something like telling them to clear the debris out of a stream, shutting down the game because it is taking so long, then starting the game again to find that the villager is dead -- and the stream is full again. Yay!
Another reviewer helpfully mentioned that you need to find villagers who "like" running, yet that's impossible for the tutorial game because the computer decides who you need in your tribe. Not much of a tutorial anyway since it basically shows you how to build a hut and a fire. The rest is up to you. Of course all this hinges on whether the villagers pay attention to you since most wander off aimlessly. The purpose of this gem? Trying to figure out why you're wasting your time playing it. Basically it involves dropping people on certain spots on the map, hoping they will figure out what to do. Again, yay!
Reviewing the walkthrough, I found I completed over half the tasks and the rest involved waiting the days if not weeks it would take for each villager to level-up since many tasks are level restricted. It's not a particularly difficult game since all you are doing is dropping villagers randomly on any spot that looks interesting. It's just a slow, annoying grind while you wait, and wait, and wait your way to the ending. "The Tree of Life" sucks the life out of anyone who plays it. Personally I found the game "My Tribe" to be far superior and closer to what I expected a "virtual village" to be. "

"Virtual villagers series is as usual an entertaining simulation game for all. I though Virtual Families is better but people like VV for than that. This is the fourth version and the 4th part of Isola. Not much adventurous tghough but enjoyable. Deserves 3.8/5 "
"Pretty fun as far as tribe games go. Likes: that you can choose your own characters; that you can choose "likes running" so your characters don't CRAWL; graphics are cute; lots to explore. Dislikes: Not much so far except that the game will let you think you are making progress on things that are not yet possible (due to your character's levels). I wasted a lot of time trying to make stew (many steps to it) only to find out it for a grand feast I can't complete anytime soon (one of the final steps of the game!) "

Pure one you need to drop master on school,controls all the kids,then drop,master on the hole of the tree,then grab the soap,and wait for bubbles jump in when villager hops out ,place him / her on hole again ,will say not pure blah blah ,then drop v illager on the pipes/flutes where villager will meditate when villager stands up ,place him/her back on the hole of the tree ,then they will go in and grab a bug and take it too the fire yeah .... make sure there is no one at the tree when doing all this ...you may have to drop villager on the school a few times to keep the kids away from the tree ..good luck :) "
"I probably won't get many kudos for this review. But, to tell you the truth, I found VVIV somewhat boring.
Very few events. The area of the thing was really small. Nothing really happened. The villagers never worried about food, storms, tsunami, Things didn't happen for them. The builders ran out of things to do early on and hard to build that preference when they are bored stiff.
Too me it was just way too easy. "
